Finding Strength on the Inside

Eating spiritual 'spinach'

I remember watching Popeye cartoons as a kid. He ate a lot of spinach, and it made him exceptionally strong. Despite influencing a whole generation, the belief that there is a link between spinach consumption and physical strength has been debunked by nutrition research. So, who’s stronger? The meat eaters or the herbivores? The stereotype says that it’s
those who eat meat who are more masculine and strong, but a new study reported in The Independent finds that it’s actually vegetarians who are more“power-hungry” and likely to “march to the beat of their own drum.” Whether it’s burgers or bagels that floats your boat, personal strength is more than the size of your biceps. I’ve seen muscle men weep where weaker men have stood strong. What is it that makes the difference? Inner strength. Physical strength is fine, but how strong are we in mind and spirit? One thing above all will give us the inner strength to navigate and weather the storms of life – a personal walk with God.
