The quest for job satisfaction

It's important to be doing something in life that we believe in, and that has meaning for us, even if we're not paid for it! Too many people have too little job satisfaction. Without denying the difficulties people may face finding appropriate work, the principle remains that we'll be more suited to some kinds of work than others. In occupational psychology, the work of John Holland has made an outstanding contribution to helping people find the 'right' work for them. Holland's extensive research identifies six different occupational personality types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. These titles are fairly self-explanatory. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate yourself on these? Your results will tell you a lot about the kinds of work in which you'll be happiest. Invaluable though such methods as this are, there is something even better that we can do to ensure that we make the most of our working lives, and that is to receive our life's work from God. He has a plan for us all, and that includes the work that we do. The first step is to come to Him. If you've never taken this step, simply ask Jesus to come into your heart right now and be your friend and Saviour. The second step is to ask Him to show you the work He has for you. Then relax, knowing that in His way and His time, He will make it plain.
