How's Your Memory?

Don't 'cram' - review!

Some people appear to have better memories than others, but whatever our natural ability, it’s possible for us to learn techniques that improve our ability to recall. One such method is to avoid ‘over-learning’ but rather to periodically review what we have learnt. The technical definition of ‘over-learning’ is any time you spend continuing to study facts you’ve already
learnt. Evidence shows that time spent over-learning is only beneficial over the short-term. So, once you’ve learnt something, trust your memory and move on to something else. If you then decide to regularly review what you’ve learnt, this will help to consolidate your learning and fix the material in memory. This is the secret to remembering material long-term.
